NETFLIX “RUNNING POINT” CAMPAIGN – The biggest trade in NBA history (Luka & AD for non-sports folks) just lined up with the launch of Netflix’s new sports comedy “Running Point” starring Kate Hudson and produced by Lakers co-owner Jeannie Buss. Then the show debuts the same week as the Lakers vs Mavs game?! You couldn’t script a better sports-meets-Hollywood crossover.
Led by Kate Hudson, created by Mindy Kaling, and produced by Jeanie Buss, the show takes inspiration from Buss’s own story—only instead of the Lakers, Hudson’s character takes over running a fictional basketball team.
Kate Hudson made the rounds on all the nationals, from Live with Kelly, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (complete with a basketball bit, naturally), Graham Norton, Kelly Clarkson, GMA, cover of Bustle Magazine and even took on Variety’s “Know Your Lines” challenge. She and Mindy Kaling doubled up their star power by presenting at the Golden Globes. Mindy also did a Masterclass and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Jeanie Buss covered the sports radio and podcasts like The Rich Eisen Show, Mindy & co sat courtside the night of premiere, and there were plenty of “Running Point” promos during the Lakers games — making sure the basketball fans tuned in. Brenda Song, a fan-favorite, landed covers for Cosmo and a feature in Marie Claire, bringing in lifestyle and fashion audiences.
Netflix hosted an LA premiere, and The Paley Museum presented a PaleyLive screening and Q&A with Kate Hudson and the cast.
From prime-time talk shows to sports radio, from red carpets to courtside chatter, Running Point ran a championship-level campaign. Now, fingers crossed, the Lakers do the same!

Congratulations to our community who just got through a long awards season!
We’re proud to have shared interview opportunities with artisans from “A Complete Unknown,” “Conclave,” “Nosferatu,” “Anora,” “Wicked” and a “Real Pain”!
Congrats to all 🪩 💗
